Some people tend to use innovations but some people do not, due to the influence of different factors. Personality type can be considered as one of those factors that might have a relation with the feelings toward the innovations. Therefore, this paper explores the relationship between Iranian EFL teachers’ personality traits and their sense of technophobia and technophilia. Two hundred and ten Iranian EFL teachers participated in this study. The Big-Five Personality Traits Questionnaire (John & Strivastava, 1999) and Technophobia and Technophilia Questionnaire (Martínez-Córcoles, Teichmann, & Murdvee, 2017) were used in the current study. To find the answers to the research questions, Pearson correlation, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), and independent-sample t-test were used. The results showed that all subscales of personality traits were negative significant predictors of technophobia except Neuroticism. Moreover, the results indicated a positive significant relationship between overall technophilia and all constructs of personality traits.}, keywords = {Big-Five,Computer Anxiety,EFL teachers,personality traits,technology}, url = {https://www.jrtle.ir/article_138943.html}, eprint = {https://www.jrtle.ir/article_138943_48e13bdb65119d16d99fb7733b6e808f.pdf} } @article { author = {Ghaemi, Hamed and Bayati, Mona}, title = {Software Technology and Writing Skills Improvement of Intermediate EFL Learners}, journal = {Journal of Research in Techno-based Language Education}, volume = {1}, number = {2}, pages = {15-28}, year = {2021}, publisher = {Tabaran Institute of Higher Education}, issn = {2821-0301}, eissn = {2821-0301}, doi = {10.22034/jrtle.2021.138945}, abstract = {The presented study examined the effect of applying software technology, (i.e., WhiteSmoke Writing Software (TM 2020), on the improvement of EFL learners' writing skills. To do so, 55 EFL learners ranged in age from 20 to 22 who were studying English as a Foreign Language in Bahar Institute of Higher Education, Iran were invited to participate in the research. During the study, the participants who were already studying Passages coursebook were informed that for 7 weeks the class orientation and focus will change to writing instruction, which was most welcome by them. One class was considered as an experimental group of 26 students, while the other one was a control group of 29 students. Based on the prior completion of the course, all were considered intermediate. Control group students worked conventionally on the book and received feedback on their performance from the teacher while the learners in the experimental group worked with WhiteSmoke Writing Software which is the most comprehensive grammar checker. At the end of the study, the comparison of the pretest and posttest demonstrated that the participants in the experimental group outperformed the control group subjects at a 0.05 significant level. The outcomes of the current study approved that the application of software technology in the classroom context was treasured. Also, the utilization of software made the learners be in charge of their own learning process, which can be a great advantage on the part of online teaching and learning.}, keywords = {E-learning,software technology,Writing Skills,WhiteSmoke writing software (TM 2020)}, url = {https://www.jrtle.ir/article_138945.html}, eprint = {https://www.jrtle.ir/article_138945_bc5945a338bd8638fe0f74a10f09814d.pdf} }
